Hi, I'm Alice!

I was one of the 1 in 2 women with prolapse who don't get benefit from normal pelvic floor exercises, and at 36 thought surgery was my only option. When I stumbled across hypopressives, they dramatically improved my grade 2 prolapse and incontinence symptoms and changed my life. As a former gynae nurse I couldn't understand why they weren't recommended by the NHS.

My professional background is nursing and I finished my training at the University of East Anglia in 2004 (1st Class BSc Hons Nursing) and worked on the gynaecological ward at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for several years. I then relocated to Southampton and worked in both gynaecology and then in GU medicine, completing my advanced training as  a specialist sexual health nurse, and working in Contraception and Sexual Health Services at the Royal South Hants Hospital.

We relocated to East Anglia for the last stretch of my husband's NHS anaesthetic training with our two children and after experiencing prolapse after the birth of our third baby, I discovering hypopressives. After experiencing life-changing improvements in my prolapse symptoms, I completed my Level one teaching qualification with UK Hypopressives and started working as a hypopressives coach in 2018. I went on to train in Level 2 and 3 Hypopressives with the International Hypopressives Council in 2020 and 2021.

I was invited to take part in a BBC documentary just before COVID looking at alternative non-surgical treatments for women and have been interested in developing knowledge around the technique and it's benefits for women with pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence.

We now have a large amount of service provision data, which include testimonials and before and after screens showing women are benefiting hugely from this technique. We are currently working to publish this, an important step towards bring hypopressives into UK pelvic health as an alternative treatment for prolapse and incontinence.

Our data-supported hypopressives programme has been 6 years in the making and works for women time and time again. I'm also delighted to share as much knowledge as I can for free on my YouTube channel to educate women, professionals and hypopressives trainers on how to learn / teach hypopressives for pelvic health in the most effective way.

Thanks for being here!

ABOUT ALICE

Hypopressives is a brand new treatment for prolapse and incontinence, with early research (Navarro-Brazallez et al 2020) showing exciting benefits

Although Hypopressives has been around for about 40 years, it's only been taught in the UK for around 15 years but is now gathering momentum fast, as many women are experiencing the benefits.

Research shows that for women experiencing prolapse, about 48% won't get symptom relief from normal pelvic floor exercises (Hagen et al 2014, POPPY Study). Many of these women will just be forced to put up with their symptoms or opt for surgery.

We also know that it can take years for new treatments to make it into NICE guidelines, and women's health continues to be underfunded and under resourced. We're hoping that our symptom improvement data will help to encourage some much needed UK based research into hypopressives.

I'm passionate about educating healthcare professionals about the benefits of hypopressives through our programmes and free resources
